Central Business District amendment for Lakehouse expansion on agenda
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6:30 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• A resolution to refer an amendment to the Central Business District to expand the permitted uses of the Lakehouse building to an adjacent structure.
• A statement from the city in opposition to a Liquefied Natural Gas facility proposed to be built 13 miles off the coast of Sandy Hook.
• A resolution to allow the Asbury Park Fire Department to enter into a shared services agreement with Freehold Fire Department District #1.
• A resolution to accept surplus fire equipment from Manasquan Volunteer Engine Company #2.
• A discussion of the form the meeting agenda is currently presented in.
• A follow-up review of items addressed during the Jan. 12 workshop session.
• A vote on several routine matters, including employee compensation, awards of contracts for comupter maintenance and repairs, printing services, vehicle transmission repair, fire department uniforms, resolutions to approve a raffle licenses and social affairs permit, and a resolution that allows the city tax assessor Erick Aguiar to file and settle tax appeals for the 2015 tax year.
In executive session, the council will discuss a personnel matter involving the retirement of City Clerk Steven Kay, contract negotiations with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ union, contract negotiations with Interfaith Neighbors for their Springwood Avenue redevelopers’ agreement, and a matter of litigation involving the A-Team’s lawsuit against the county and city that seeks to have 343 ballots disqualified by the Monmouth County Board of Elections opened and counted.
