No workshop session to be held; regular meeting starts at 6

The city council will hold its first meeting of the new year at 6 p.m. tonight. The council will not hold a workshop session tonight. The closed executive session begins at 5 p.m.
Items on the agenda include:
• Public participation beginning just after 6 p.m.
• An appointment to the zoning board.
• Application to join the state health insurance plan. City officials have said transferring to the state plan could save money.
• Approval of a temporary budget, along with some budget transfers if necessary.
