On agenda: Requests to amend Main St. plan for night club, brewery
The Asbury Park City Council is scheduled to meet Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall. A closed executive session will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by a workshop session at 6:00 p.m. and a regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
Public participation takes place at the beginning of the regular meeting. Items from the cancelled Jan. 26, 2015 workshop session have been moved to the Jan. 28 agenda. Items on the agenda for both the workshop and regular meeting sessions include:
• Presentations by city Planning and Redevelopment Director Donald Sammet on proposals to amend the Main Street Redevelopment Plan for a microbrewery and to allow Cascada to continue operating as a night club.
• Discussion of two special event applications, including a request for the Asbury Park Board of Education to use one of the city’s reserved dates for the Paramount Theatre and the Asbury Park Jazz Festival.
• A presentation by Jenna Scott of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Coastal Engineering on the request for a temporary agreement to use the North Beach Fisherman’s Parking Lot as a storage area, a vote on a resolution to approve the request may take place during the regular session meeting.
• A presentation by the city’s construction official, George Selah, on proposed revisions to the construction fee schedule.
• Presentations by City Engineer Joe Cunha on the status of several city projects, including Springwood Park, Sunset Footbridge repairs, sewer plant roof repairs, amending salary ordinances for new public work’s personnel, and a proposal to submit annual recycling tonnage reports and name the city’s 2015 recycling coordinator.
• A presentation by Deputy Police Chief Anthony Salerno on a proposed 10-minute loading zone in front of 1700 Webb St.
• A discussion of appointments to the city’s boards, commissions and committees.
• Votes on several resolutions, including a resulition to refund overbilled sewer charges to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County, transfer Taka Sushi Restaurant’s liquor license from 632 Mattison Ave. to their new location at 660 Cookman Ave.,
In executive session, the council will discuss: personnel matters involving the search for a new city manager, Deputy Police Chief Anthony Salerno’s employment contract, appointments to several boards, commissions and committees, and review requests for qualifications for professional appointments, contract negotiations for a redevelopers’ agreement with Interfaith Neighbors, PILOT dispute/negotiations with New Versailles Urban Renewal, LLC, as well asl several matters of litigation.
