The City of Asbury Park will be hosting its Second Annual Halloween Trunk or Treat event from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct 31 in the City Hall Parking lot, located at 1 Municipal Plaza.
The event, produced by the City’s Recreation Committee, is a safe, fun, and free option for Asbury Park youth to celebrate Halloween. In case of rain, the event will be moved to The Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County, located at 1201 Monroe Avenue.
“We’re hoping the City’s Trunk or Treat becomes an annual tradition, since an event like this helps create community,” said Councilman and Recreation Committee Chair Jesse Kendle, “Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success. We already have more partners signed up to host trunks and we’re expecting even more children to participate this year.”
Over 30 residents and businesses are participating this year by bringing decorated vehicles that will be used for handing out treats to trick-or-treaters.
Participants include Acelero Learning, Alphabets Preschool, Asbury Insider, Asbury Park Board of Education, Asbury Park Environmental and Shade Tree Commission, Asbury Park Fire Department, Asbury Park Library, Asbury Park Little League, Asbury Park Police Department, The Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County, Care on the Square Preschool, Coastal Habitat for Humanity, Community Affairs and Resource Center, Diane Turton Realtors, Interfaith Neighbors, Jersey Shore Dream Center, A Little Class Preschool, Morning Glory Behavioral Health Program, New Creation TaeKwonDo, Quick Med Pharmacy, The Salvation Army, Shore Christian Church, Smiles by the Sea Dentistry, State Farm Insurance, and Syracuse Signs.
“The City is proud to provide a safe and free alternative for trick-or-treaters,” Recreation Director Leesha Floyd said. “We encourage all Asbury Park youth to attend, wear costumes and bring their trick-or-treat bags – and remember that all children must be accompanied by an adult.”
