Two Indicted In Connection To April Senior Complex Homicide
City Residents Charged W/ Conspiracy, Hindering Apprehension & Evidence Tampering
A Monmouth County Grand Jury returned a 9-count indictment charging two Asbury Park residents in connection to the April death of a 57-year old man at a local senior citizen complex, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced in a written statement.
Knowledge B. Allah 54, was charged with murdering Salah Ali on April 11, officials said. Now Allah, along with Martha Sanders, 70, face charges of the second degree disturbing human remains and conspiracy to disturb human remains, three counts of the third degree hindering apprehension, and the fourth degree tampering with physical evidence.
Ali’s body was found deceased on the morning of April 11 inside the Dr. Robinson Towers [shown in featured photo], located at 1000 Third Avenue.
Asbury Park police responded to a 911 call around 11:18 a.m. requesting first aid for a fall victim at the complex, officials said. But when they arrived, police found the deceased victim lying in a stairwell of the building with an apparent stab wound.
A joint investigation led to Sanders being charged with covering up the homicide on July 11, officials said.
If convicted of first degree Murder, Allah faces a minimum sentence of 30 years to life, with No Early Release Act provisions, meaning he must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence.
Allah and Sanders face up to ten years in prison if convicted on either of the second degree offenses, up to five years on each third degree crime, and 18 months on the fourth degree offense.
The cases are assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutors Caitlin Sidley and Joseph Lanzot.
