Workforce Development Meeting Planned
Public asked to weigh in on job creation plan
City Officials will hold an open house meeting to garner input for a workforce development plan currently being drafted.
The 6 to 8 p.m. meeting will be held Oct 18 at the Asbury Park Senior Center, located at 1201 Springwood Ave. This is the third in a series of public input meeting held to vet a jobs growth plan being done by Thomas P. Miller and Associates for a total cost of $119,400. Two meetings were held in May, prior to the drafting of the plan.
The plan will not only help guide the city’s efforts to assure residents can develop skills needed to secure careers, it will help businesses find the talent they need, officials said.
The city’s unemployment rate is 4.20 percent, with a job growth rate of 2.35 percent, according to a Sperling’s Best Places data report.
Future job growth over the next ten years is predicted to be 40.50 percent.
The per capita income is $34,245, which includes all adults and children. The median household income is $53,986.
The Mayor and City Council has said the plan will help to better understand local priorities and workforce-related needs for the entire community.
A copy of the draft plan will be available via the municipal website by Friday, City Manager Manger Michael Capabianco said.
Participants should allow 20 to 30 minutes for the public input.
Light refreshments will be served.
