Female Resident, 32, Charged With Attempted Murder
OTPD: Victim, 41-Year-Old Man Stabbed In Neck, Initially Made False Report
A township resident was arrested for attempted murder in connection with a stabbing to the neck case reported Saturday at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Donnicka Smith, 32, was also charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and child endangerment.
Police officials said they were notified near 7:31 a.m. of a 41-year-old male with stab wound to his neck. The victim initially reported that he was attacked from behind while walking his dog near 4 a.m. along Bimbler Boulevard. The victim underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.
Further investigation by detectives revealed that the alleged report was fabricated and that the man was stabbed by a female acquaintance, later identified as Smith. Following the stabbing he took a cab to the hospital without notification to the police or EMS.
Smith was remanded to Monmouth County Jail, where she awaits an initial court appearance.
Detectives Michael Legg, Chris Brady and Steven Walker, along with Ptl Daniel Weber investigated.
