Delivery man beat up and robbed on the job
Suspects fled building, were last seen entering car in Ocean Plaza
Ocean Township Police are searching for two suspects who are believed to be involved with a strong arm robbery that took place at the Wanamassa Garden Apartment Complex Tuesday night.
Police responded to a call around 8:17 last night alerting them to a strong arm robbery that had just occurred at the apartment complex on Allen Avenue, according to a news release from the Ocean Township Police Department.
An investigation revealed a delivery person from a nearby Chinese food takeout restaurant was punched and thrown to the ground when they arrived at a location in the complex to deliver food, police said.
Two subjects robbed the delivery person of his cash, wallet, iPhone and the food he was delivering before fleeing across Route 35 toward Ocean Plaza where they were seen entering an older white sedan occupied by a third, as yet unidentified, subject, police said. The sedan was last seen driving through the Ocean Plaza parking lot toward Sunset Avenue, police said.
The suspects are described as a heavy set Hispanic male who was wearing a black jacket at the time, and a black male who was wearing a black colored half ski mask, according to police.
The delivery person suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
